Goblin Valley is one of my favourite places on the planet. I’ve never seen such contrast as Goblin Valley’s wild red rocks and bright blue skies. Stunning. Plus so fun to experience natures jungle gym hands on. And to leave with your hair, ears, nostrils, nooks and crannies full of red sand is also a treat.

Do I feel like I'm too old for social media these days?
Yes. Yes, I do.

Here is some info about me, technology, and how well I'm aging:

📺 We had 4 TV channels growing up, and adverts used to come on every 15 minutes. You could tell when one was coming because there would be a fuzzy grey box in the top right corner of the screen to let you know there was a break coming. Friends was on at 9pm on Friday on Channel 4.

📞 We had a rotary phone as a landline. It was located on the stairs. When I'd get sent to the stairs for a time-out. I wasn't allowed to move from the stairs until I could "behave like a proper human." I used that time to practice making phone calls to any number I fancied, like a proper grownup human.

☎️ To use the internet, you had to unplug the phone and plug the computer into the phone jack. Anyone who phoned our house would be met with an engaged tone all day Saturday as we downloaded skins for our Sims and other virus-laden files... or you know... pioneered internet dating 😆 A/S/L?

📱 I shared a mobile phone (Nokia 3310) with my dad. Every text we sent cost 10p, and we used a top-up card for credit. We would put 10p in a jar for each text until we had enough for a £25 top-up card. We'd buy the top-up card from the local newsagent shop. Phones had buttons back then, and each button had 3 letters of the alphabet. You had to click-click-click through to spell each word... The good old days.

📻 The top 40 would play on the radio on Sunday evening. If you wanted to record a song, you waited the whole time with your fingers on the rec + play button to record it and prayed to the music gods you had enough space on your cassette tape for the whole song. OR you'd go to Woolworths to purchase the single. (There's no cassette tape emoji.)

🚗 We were a family of 7 who traveled in a regular 5-seater car.
